Introduction

We are looking for PhD/MSc candidates to conduct a project investigating the physical activity levels of disabled children in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland). This study will assess the activity levels of children and adolescents from five to 20 years of age using a variety of tools. The information gathered will expand our understanding of the current health of disabled children, and help to identify target populations for exercise interventions aimed at increasing physical activity levels and consequently quality of life.

What we are looking for in a successful applicant

You must meet the requirements for entry to the programme.

A background in exercise physiology or physiotherapy, and experience with children, will be a plus.

Objective

  1. To evaluate the level and type of physical activity children with disabilities in the Auckland area engage with.

  2. To assess enablers and barriers to participation in physical activity in this population.
